| Nectar-eating birds |
The nectar-eating birds can be divided in two groups: on one hand the psittacines, such as lories and fig parrots, and on the other hand hummingbirds and sunbirds. These bird species pull out their basic food, nectar and pollen from all possible flowers. Depending on the species, they also feed on fruit and small insects. In captivity, their basic food consists of nectar, completed with a portion of eggfood, based on honey. |
